fumarole is a note-taking software application that runs inside of your web browser. it is open source, and heavily influenced by TiddlyWiki and OneNote. It is meant to be cross-platform, store massive amounts of data, be fast, used by a single person, and used locally (not over the Internet).

Finally, a big thank you to all the folks behind jQuery, Google Gears, and Firebug, without whom this project would not have been possible.
Grab the latest release here, and unzip it to somewhere in your home folder. Then, open up your web browser and navigate to the index.html page in that folder. The software will likely prompt you to download Google Gears, and once that's done, you should be good to go. Please note that fumarole has currently only been tested on Firefox 3.
